The new Peugeot 3008 THP Plus and 5008 THP Plus have been officially launched in Malaysia today, with Nasim offering two variants – Active and Allure – for each SUV. Both models are now locally assembled as opposed to being fully imported in the past, with assembly taking place at the Naza Automotive Manufacturing (NAM) facility in Gurun, a joint venture between the Naza Group and PSA Group.

Of the two Peugeot SUVs, the 3008 is for those who are looking for a five-seater, while those who require seven seats should consider the 5008 instead. The overall design of both remains unchanged from before, with most of the changes involving the list of available equipment.

There’s only one engine option for the 3008 and 5008, which is a 1.6 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that outputs 165 hp (167 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 240 Nm of torque from 1,400 rpm. The THP (Turbo High Pressure) mill drives the front wheels through a six-speed Quickshift automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Also included is the Advanced Grip Control with five selectable modes – Normal, ESP off, Snow, Mud and Sand.

Performance-wise, both SUVs will accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 205 km/h. The rated combined fuel consumption is also identical across the board at seven litres per 100 km, as per NEDC regulations.

The exterior equipment on both SUVs are identical, as the base Active variant comes with automatic halogen headlamps with LED sequential indicators, LED “claw effect” taillights, front and rear fog lamps, automatic wipers, rear parking sensors and a reverse camera. The 3008 gets 18-inch “Detroit” alloy wheels, while the 5008 is fitted with 18-inch “Los Angeles” alloy wheels (both with 255/55 series tyres).

Meanwhile, the interior features the Peugeot i-Cockpit, which consists of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster display and an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The latter comes with Apple CarPlay support, a navigation function, and is linked to an Arkamys 3D sound system.

Other items include a dual-zone climate control system with rear vents, keyless entry and start, black “Claudio” leather upholstery, powered front seats (eight-way driver with memory function and six-way passenger), and cruise control with speed limiter.

Standard safety and driver assistance systems on the 3008 Active are six airbags, hill descent control, hill start assist, an Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), ABS, EBD, brake assist, Anti-Skid Regulation (ASR), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), a tyre pressure monitor and Isofix child seat anchors on the outer rear seats.

Lastly, let’s talk pricing. The 3008 Active retails at RM150,888 on-the-road without insurance, while the Allure costs more at RM163,888. Meanwhile, the 5008 in Active guise is RM166,888, with the Allure selling at RM179,888. These prices are inclusive of a five-year/120,000-km warranty, three-year free service package, 24-hour Peugeot Assistance and complimentary access to Subang Skypark’s SkyLounge.

Both models can be ordered in a choice of Nera Black, Pearl White, Amazonite Grey and Aster Grey, although the 3008 has its own exclusive colour, Metallic Copper, while the 5008 gets an additional Emerald Crystal finish.
