KUALA LUMPUR: Police have prepared a list of witnesses whom they plan to question as part of an investigation into allegations by convicted murderer Azilah Hadri that former prime minister Najib Razak masterminded the killing of Altantuya Shaariibuu.

“Police will wait for specific instructions from the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

“But we already have our own standard operation procedures to take action,” top cop Abdul Hamid Bador told reporters in Bukit Aman today.

However, he refused to state whether Najib would be summoned as part of the probe.

“Dozens will be called. The process is underway,” he said.

Azilah, who was sentenced to death together with fellow former police officer Sirul Azhar Umar, recently issued a sworn statement as part of an application in the Federal Court for a review of his case.

He is seeking to have his conviction set aside and a fresh trial held.

Among others, Azilah said the order to kill Altantuya came from Najib, and that her former lover Abdul Razak Baginda and senior police officer Musa Safri were aware of the plan.

Both Razak and Najib have rubbished Azilah’s claims. On Friday, Najib took an Islamic oath at the Kampung Baru mosque in Kuala Lumpur, stating he had nothing to do with Altantuya’s killing.
