PORT DICKSON: The fall of the Pakatan Harapan state governments in Johor and Melaka is no indication that the one in Negri Sembilan will collapse too, says Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

The three-term Sikamat assemblyman said his government was stable as all 20 Pakatan assemblymen in the state were loyal to the party and its struggle.

“I believe my assemblymen are principled, have a high level of integrity and are loyalists.

“I absolutely have no reason to doubt any of them. In Negri, all of us are continuing with our work as per the usual,” he said when met at the opening of the Tuanku Muhriz Power Station in Jimah near here.

Aminuddin was asked to comment about rumours on social media that Negri Sembilan was one of the state governments that could see a change in leadership following the setting up of the new Federal Government under Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Last week, all 20 state Pakatan assemblymen pledged their loyalty to the party at an event held at the official residence of the Mentri Besar.

Pakatan controls 20 of the 36 seats in the state assembly. Eleven of those seats are held by DAP while PKR has six and Amanah, three.

Of the 16 seats held by the opposition, Umno has 15 and MIC, one.

Aminuddin said some of his exco members and assemblymen have been regularly accompanying him or attending their own official events and this goes to show that they were focused in their work.

“Some are also here today and I will be seeing others at another event at 3pm.

“Like I said, we are very stable in Negri Sembilan and I have no reason to worry,” he said.

Asked if there was a need for the assemblymen to again show their support to his leadership, Aminuddin said there was no such need.

Aminuddin said there were many “tok nujum” (fortune tellers) who would claim anything on social media and these individuals should be ignored.

“We should focus our time and energy on strengthening our economy and not on such matters.

“We already have many problems on our hands such as a weak economy due to factors beyond our control as well as the Covid-19 outbreak and we need to counter these for the benefit of the rakyat,” he added.
