MELAKA: Two Parti Bersatu Pribumi assemblymen are in no man’s land after Melaka Barisan Nasional severed ties with them.

Pakatan Harapan is said to be against accepting them back after a series of perceived betrayals by the defecting lawmakers.

DAP’s Kota Laksamana assemblyman Low Chee Leong vehemently opposed the duo’s attempt to return to Pakatan after they were rejected by Barisan on Thursday (March 5).

The two Bersatu assemblymen in Melaka are Paya Rumput assemblyman Datuk Mohd Rafiq Naizamohideen and Telok Mas rep Datuk Noor Effandi Ahmad.

“One of the assemblymen openly criticised state Pakatan leaders before exiting.

“We will never work with those traitors and the solution is to call snap polls,” he said on Thursday (March 5).

State Pakatan secretary Khoo Poay Tiong said the coalition would issue an official statement on the matter.

Melaka Barisan and Umno chief Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said they would no longer cooperate with Bersatu following a fallout believed to have stemmed from the choice of the new Chief Minister.

The swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister is scheduled to be held on Friday (March 6).
