PUTRAJAYA: Four Selangor Bersatu assemblymen have voiced their support for the Pakatan Harapan state government.

The four assemblymen for Jeram, Kuang, Batang Kali and Dengkil said this was the stand they had chosen after a meeting with party chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad yesterday.

“We will discuss this directly with the Mentri Besar tomorrow (today), ” Kuang assemblyman Sallehudin Aminuddin told reporters yesterday.

Sallehudin, together with the assemblymen for Jeram (Mohd Shaid Rosli), Batang Kali (Harumaini Omar) and Dengkil (Adhif Shan Abdullah), had met Dr Mahathir for an hour-long discussion at the Perdana Leadership Foundation.

Bersatu has six elected representatives in Selangor. The other two – Selat Klang assemblyman Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari and Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman Datuk Seri Azmin Ali – were not present at the meeting.

Sallehuddin said the support for Selangor Pakatan government came despite Bersatu being booted out of the state administration.Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari earlier announced the purge of Bersatu leaders and members from all positions of the state administration had started.

On whether Selangor Bersatu would continue to support the Pakatan state government even with no position, Mohd Shaid said this was not an issue among the four of them as they did not hold any posts.

Harumaini said the support for the state government was because they appreciated the mandate given by the people of Selangor.

“They supported us because we were partners in Pakatan. It is our responsibility to continue to serve the people, ” he said.

Asked about Abdul Rashid’s stand on the matter, they said they did not know, neither were they aware of his whereabouts.

Abdul Rashid is the state exco in charge of tourism and Bersatu state chief.
